A democratic candidate, who is in hot water on texts revealing his desire to shoot a GOP legislator, previously received approval and a considerable gift from one of the most important firearm control groups in the country.

The candidate General of the Attorney General of Virginia, Jay Jones, alongside the candidate for Governor Abigail Spanberger, received $ 200,000 from EveryTown for firearms in August, Campaign financing records Examined by Fox News Digital Show.

Fox News Digital contacted EveryTown for the safety of firearms by asking whether their approval is still held or if they plan to ask for their donation but have not received an answer.

The Republicans across the country, including President Donald Trump, called Jones to leave the race, but the Democrats of Virginia have so far been united behind Jones.

Jones apologized sinceCalling the “embarrassing and shameful” remarks, and said he had personally contacted Gilbert and his family.

Fox News Digital contacted the Jones campaign to comment.

Spanberger, presenting himself to the governor in one of the most closely watched races in the country, condemned Jones’ messages but stopped calling him to withdraw from the race.
