Governor Greg Abbott, R-Texas, has signed a new Congress card, guaranteeing five other districts of the American Chamber of Republicans before the competitive mid-term elections expected in 2026.

Friday, the signing of Abbott marks the culmination of a partisan redistribution debate which captivated the attention of the country and inspired an effort of the eye of the eye of California Democrats.

“Today, I signed the only big card on the big card,” said Abbott on X. “This card guarantees a fairer representation at Congress. Texas will be redest in the congress.”

The Texas Chamber and Senate, controlled by the Republican, adopted the new card in their respective rooms last week, after weeks of democrats in the solitary star state breaking the quorum and fleeing the state to avoid a redistribution vote.

And the state republicans were not shy on the reason they wanted to modify the card.

Senator Phil King, R-Texas, who brought the card to the Senate, argued that if the card had created more competitive districts, he thought they would be won by the Republicans during the mid-term electoral cycle of 2026.

“(House Bill 4), I believe, should elect more Republicans at the American Congress, but I am here to tell you that there is no guarantee,” he said.

The Democrats of Texas do not hesitate to contest the map before the courts.

The president of the Texas Democratic Party, Kendall Scudder, praised the State Democrats for their attempts to block the process and accused the Texas Republicans “actually went to Texas in Washington, DC”

“It’s not over – we will see these clowns in court,” said Scudder. “We have not finished fighting against these racially discriminatory cards, and we are fully expecting to expect the letter from the prevailing law on these sycophan republican politicians who think that the rules do not apply to them.”

Abbott prompted the creation of a new card to join the President Donald Trump The desire not to see a rehearsal of the 2018 electoral cycle, when the Democrats found the majority in the House and acted as a leaf of the legislative objectives of the president towards the end of his first mandate.

The Texas map seeks to maintain the republican majority at the American house next year. The Republicans managed to adopt Trump’s “big and beautiful bill” by Congress this year, making many of its campaign promises in 2024, including immigration and green energy reform and tax reductions. Democrats are already using Megabill as fodder for their 2026 campaigns, especially on the Medicaid cuts.

Repeating a similar legislative achievement for Trump would be confronted with even more obstacles if the Democrats gain control of the Chamber.

But Abbott and the efforts of Texas Gop could be in vain, since the governor of California. Gavin Newsom And the Californian democrats have adopted their own new card, which added five new seats originally democratic in order to cancel Trump’s requests.

However, the new California card is not yet official and must be approved by voters in November to be promulgated.

“Residents of California will be able to vote for a Congress card. Direct democracy which gives us a chance to fight to stop the rigging of the Donald Trump elections,” said Newsom on X.

While the Republicans control a supermajority in deep red Texas, the Democrats were still necessary to create a quorum in the Chamber to advance the process.

Dozens of Texas Democrats fled the state to block the process, creating a national media frenzy and generating support from Democratic donors, including groups related to George Soros and Beto O’RourkeTo help pay their fines, trips and accommodation.

But the Republicans of Texas General prosecutor Ken Paxton And the president of the Chamber, Dustin Burrows, asked for civil arrest mandates nationally for the Democrats of the Texas Chamber who broke the quorum, and the senator. John CornynR-Texas, asked the FBI to find them and the Doj launched an investigation into political action committees funding their escape.

Democratic leaders announced at the beginning of last week that they would return for the second special session after the California plan to redraw its cards to soften the stroke of the solitary star state, put an end to the blockade and allow the Republicans to load in advance.

The Democrats of the Chamber of Texas accused the GOP of making a card which was illegal and racial discriminatory, and they tried and failed on the floor of the Chamber to add modifications to the bill which would have interrupted the process. Despite the best efforts of the Democrats, the Republicans of the Texas Chamber killed a dozen changes to the bill and adopted it last Wednesday evening.

“Members break my hearts to see how this illegal and rigged rediscovering program for mid-December divides our state and our country,” said representative Chris Turner, a democrat. “It’s Texas, it’s not Washington DC The impulses of external politicians and their billionaire donors should not dictate what we do in this room, in this house.”

Representative Todd Hunter, a republican who wrote the bill for the new card, replied that four of the five new districts were “mainly minority Hispanic”, noting that each of the new districts is now a republican trend. However, he had no qualms about the reason why the Republicans pursued changes to the Congress cards.

“The underlying objective of this plan is simple, (to) improve republican political performance,” he said.

The blockade of the Democrats ended last week, when Abbott called for a second special session after their requests for California also start a redistribution cycle to cancel the card that the Texas Republicans created.
