While Democrats predict major problems with a provision within the “Big and Beautiful Bill” which adds a work requirement for adults to be eligible for Medicaid, republican senators praise the requirement, saying: “We must turn to work.”

The arrangement requires adults without valid children aged 18 to 64 to work at least 80 hours per month to receive Medicaid services. Individuals can also meet the requirement by participating in the community service, going to school or engaging in a work program.

“We have people at home at the moment to harvest wheat working 20 hours a day,” said Senator Roger Marshall, R-Kan., Told Fox News Digital. “We want you to go to university, we want to volunteer, work 20 hours a week, it brings dignity, it brings a goal to your life. Work is a great thing; it is nothing to be ashamed.”

“Seven million American men in good health there of the working age do not work at the moment,” continued Marshall. “We also have seven million open jobs. I think I want to do everything I can to help these seven million men find a job. Whether through education or education, technical colleges, I think there are a lot of opportunities.”

Senator Bill Hagerty, R-Tenn., Said “The deterrents of working are a real problem here in America”.

“It’s incredible that Democrats are trying to make this argument,” he said. “I do not think that taxpayers are the bill for valid citizens at all. And certainly, non-citizens should not benefit.”

“We have to encourage work,” said Hagerty. “And certainly, you do not want to encourage a burden on taxpayers.”

“We must take care of the people who must be taken care of and it is simply unfortunate that you have a lot of freeladers in this country,” said senator Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala.

Tuberville said that many of those he considered as freeloaders “came from younger ranks because they grew up, they have all these student loans, they have obtained a diploma that is worth nothing, they cannot find work where they do not want to work and therefore the way they have done, they have become socialists, they began to live the government.”

“We cannot have this. We have to go back to work. This country is built on hard work,” he said.

Meanwhile, Senator Ron Johnson, R-Wis., Said he also agreed with the work requirement, saying to Fox News Digital that “honestly, what we are trying to do is stop the inscription for this addition of Obamacare in Medicaid”.

“They call it the expansion of Medicaid, but it is Obamcare. It was the way the Democrats are trying to transform us into a single paying system.

“As a result,” he continued. “We have created all kinds of (what) I would call legalized fraud from states … Now that they have designed their budgets around this scam, now they cry when we try to end the scam.”

In addition, while Senator John Fetterman, D-P., Expressed that “of course, we must always eliminate all kinds of fraud and this kind of waste”, the other Democrats were much less enthusiastic about the work requirement.

“This provision is not designed for efficiency or to save people that the layout is designed to launch people from Medicaid, as do not believe media threshing,” said senator Chris Murphy, D-Conn.

Murphy said that the Republicans “have built a work requirement that people could not meet because they hate the idea that Medicaid really helps workers in this country.”

“So there will be a whole bunch of people who work to earn a living who will not be able to comply with these provisions and who will lose their health care, even if they work,” he said. “It is the intention of the disposition and everyone should be honest on this subject.”

Senator Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., Said that the provision “will launch 17 million people from health insurance”.

“These are situations of life and death that people make,” he said, adding: “This legislation will launch 300,000 of my voters from their health care coverage.”

“These are people I talked about who cannot afford it,” he continued. “They have no money in their budget to buy health care. So, so they were able to make a decision between eating and rent, or they just don’t go to the doctor.”

James Agresti, president of Just Facts, a research institute on public policies, told Fox News Digital that despite the claims of democrats on work requirements, he thinks that reality tells a different story.

“The idea that valid adults without young children cannot work, obtaining education or volunteer for 20 hours a week is absurd,” he said.

“Murphy’s rhetoric is refuted by decades of experience with other social protection programs that have work requirements, such as temporary assistance for families in need,” he said.

Agresti said that according to an estimate of the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), 1.4 million non-citizens and 9.2 million valid adults who do not work or who are engaged in fraud will be withdrawn from MEDICAID.

A spokesperson for the Kelly office told Fox News that a “pile of real experts and media correctly interpreting this same CBO report” estimates that 11.8 million people will be without health insurance by 2034 due to the provision, plus an additional 5.1 million due to the bill ending the credits of the affordable care law.

In response, Agresti said that the bill “does not revoke the enlarged subsidies of Obamacare, which was a temporary document of the era of the cocuets that the Democrats promulgated in the American rescue plan and extended in the law on the reduction of inflation”.

“Even the New York Times reported that the addition of these figures in the count of the great and beautiful bill” is an exaggeration “and not” the real number “,” said Agresti.

He also said that many studies have shown that work deterrence is a real problem in America.
