Georgia joins 7 states sending national guard troops to support Trump

Governor of Georgia Brian Kemp announced on Friday that the state planned to send more than 300 members of the National Guard to Washington, DC, to support President Donald Trump’s efforts to restore “public security”.

“Georgia is proud to stand with the Trump administration in its mission to ensure the security and beauty of the capital of our country”, “ Kemp said in a statement. “We share a commitment to maintain public security and we are grateful to these brave guards and women, for families who support them and for their dedication to a service above themselves. As they have demonstrated again and again, our Georgia guard is well equipped to fulfill this mission and its obligations towards the inhabitants of our state.”

The administration asked the troops to relieve people already stationed in the capital, according to Kemp’s office.

Georgia troops should mobilize in Washington, DC, in mid-September.

Earlier last month, Trump activated 800 members of the National Guard of the Columbia District to help restore order in the national capital, including reprimand on crime, illegal immigration and homelessness.

Georgia now joins seven other states – Louisiana, Mississippi, Ohio, South Carolina, Southern Dakota, Tennessee and Virginie -Western – who sent troops to support Trump’s mission.

The state has already sent 16 soldiers to act as medical support staff, PA and deputy earlier this week, Kemp’s office said.

Earlier this week, the Troops of the Columbia District brought their orders until December and, Thursday, the district continued the Trump administration for its presence of the National Guard.

The administration sent troops to Los Angeles to respond to anti-ice demonstrations earlier this summer, and Trump spoke of sending troops to other cities managed by Democrats like Chicago, Baltimore and New York.
