Steve Witkoff’s special envoy is expected to meet Israeli and Qatari officials in Rome on Thursday while the United States is pressure for a cease-fire contract in Gaza.
Hamas and Israel are engaged in indirect negotiations to end the war that has raged for almost two years. However, Witkoff’s route depends on the progress made in talks. If the parties make enough progress in Rome, Witkoff would go to Doha to finalize the agreement, According to Axios.
The point of sale also said that sources have indicated that the meeting in Rome could suggest that an agreement is close – perhaps in a few days.
Earlier this month, Israel accepted a 60-day cease-fire proposal supported by the United States which would lead to the end of the war. This agreement includes a progressive release of the hostages, the withdrawal of Israeli troops from certain parts of Gaza and talks on the end of the conflict, According to Reuters.

Israel accepts the ceasefire plan led by Trump which could end the Gaza War within 60 days

Trump puts pressure on
If Trump can ensure the end of the war, it could mean an expansion of the Abraham agreements, one of the signing efforts of the first administration of Trump, which saw the normalization agreements of the signs of Israel with the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco and Sudan. However, Trump has not yet detailed which countries would be added.
The Israeli Foreign Affairs Minister Gideon Sa’ar said on June 30 that Israel was “serious” at the end of the conflict. He added that Jerusalem is interested in “countries, such as Syria and Lebanon, our neighbors, in the circle of peace and normalization”.
