Illinois parents are rabid about a new law signed by Democratic Governor JB Pritzker extending eligibility for financial assistance to students to illegal foreigners.
In an interview with Fox News Digital, Michelle Cunney, a mother of Illinois and a head of the rights section of local parents in education, described the new law as a “nightmare”.
“To be honest, it is terrifying that not only do we have to pay for that, as you know, citizens taxed … But also, as parents, not knowing how it will really affect our children and their education,” said Cunney.
She said that under the leadership of Pritzker, “we know that children who are not legally obtaining here will get … More luck and an opportunity to obtain scholarships and all our children, because for Pritzker, and so many others, we are not important. We are nothing other than money.”
Earlier this month, Pritzker, which is a Democratic presidential competitor in 2028, signed a bill by opening financial assistance from students to all Illinois residents, regardless of immigration status, opening a course for illegal immigrants residing in the State to receive educational financial advantages.

The bill claims to establish “equitable eligibility for financial assistance and benefits” for all students of the State.
The bill indicates that “a student who is a resident of Illinois and who is not otherwise eligible for federal financial aid, including, but without limiting himself, a transgender student who is disqualified so as not to register for a selective service or a non -citizen student who has not obtained a lawful lawful residence, will be eligible for financial assistance and advantages”. “”
Although the bill claims to be intended for equity, Cunney said that it was part of a broader model of Illinois democrats who put American students and parents. She accused Pritzker of prioritizing her presidential aspirations and her political quarrel with President Donald Trump above what is best for the families of Illinois.
She said that in some cases, public schools responded to the children of illegal immigrants, even by modifying test standards, the results of non -citizen students.
“Because of this, it has somehow triggered a change in the way they look at the note because now they say that children who are not American citizens have more potential than our children,” said Cunney.

“Honestly, most parents do not agree with this,” she said. “They don’t support him.”
In response to the law extending financial aid to the illegals, Cunney said that she saw “an increase in parents” expressing “how horrible and how terrifying everything is.”
She has said that many parents also express an concern about the possibility of “having someone like this one who is a governor and who fails everything in Illinois, which means that the state itself is almost a failed state, becoming president”.
“Because can you imagine what he could do as president? He destroyed our state, he would destroy everything if he had the opportunity to do so,” she said.
Suzanne Gallagher, national executive director of Parents’ rights in educationtold Fox News Digital that because of policies advanced by Pritzker and other Democratic governors across the country, “parents pay more, get less and look at their children behind.”

“Governor Pritzker, he turned his back on the parents, sliding more money to college for illegal foreigners, while the K-12 system collapses,” said Gallagher. “These parents bring together two and two and they say:” Wait a minute, what are you talking about? And our children? “”

“It is unacceptable for all the families of Illinois,” she continued. “That this idea even emanated from the governor’s headquarters, think about it, how do he dare? While their schools are lagging behind, and you want to provide funding so that illegal foreigners can go to the colleges and universities of Illinois on the Dime of Michelle and other parents? No, not acceptable.”
Despite this, Gallagher said it was optimistic that more parents in states like Illinois are starting to reject such policies and join the parents’ rights movement.
“It’s exciting because people are … the future of our country, parents who have children in public schools right now,” she said. “So we are there for you. We have fantastic activists in every state of this country. And we are on board, we would be delighted to meet you.”
Fox News Digital contacted the Pritzker office to comment but did not immediately receive an answer.
