The Democratic candidate for New York town hall, Zohran Mamdani, has lost the approval of a long -standing party leader in the New York governor Kathy Hochul.
The president of the New York State Democratic Committee (NYSDC), Jay Jacobs, announced this week that he would not support Mamdani for the mayor despite the Democratic voters who choose the Democratic socialist as a candidate of the party.
“Mr. Mamdani and I agree that the biggest problem in America is the continuous growth in the disparity of income in our nation,” said Jacobs in a declaration to the hill. “On how to solve this problem – we are fundamentally disagreed.”

The hill reported that the chief of the NYSDC said that he disagreed with Mamdani’s position on Israel.
Mamdani was a vocal critic of Israel’s actions throughout the war against Hamas terrorists in Gaza. His position on the question has become a major subject of the campaign cycle, in particular when he refused to condemn the expression “globalizing the intifada”, which some consider as a call to violence against the Jews. Mamdani has moved away from the expression, saying that he would discourage his supporters from using it.
Although he does not support Mamdani for the mayor, Jacobs rejected “fear” surrounding the campaign of the self -proclaimed democratic socialist as “an excessive brute”.

We still do not know how Jacobs’ loss of approval will affect Mamdani’s campaign.
However, this could have an impact on Jacobs’ position as party leader. According to in Politico, Jacobs said he would resign from his post if Hochul should ask.
“If the governor should ask a state president to resign, he should resign,” Jacobs told Politico.
