Fox News’ main medical analyst, Dr. Marc Siegel, Fox News Digital told that mandates do not work for some vaccines – especially when a virus or other pathogens spread despite vaccination.

“For vaccines that prevent transmission, as with measles, mumps, rubella, chickenpox or polio-and where the virus itself carries the possibilities of serious results-then school mandates have a meaning, because these viruses spread among schoolchildren,” he said.

He added: “Those who cannot get this vaccine because they are immunocompromised (if it is a vaccine against the living virus, they cannot have it) are protected by those around them.”

The creation of an immunity community around very contagious viruses thanks to the use of vaccines is “responsible public health”, added Siegel.

Dr. Susan Kressly, president of the American Academy of Pediatrics, stressed the importance of infant vaccines in a statement. “We are concerned about the fact that today’s announcement by Governor Desantis will put children in Florida public schools at a higher risk of getting sick and will have training effects in their community,” said Kressly.

All those who have questions about vaccinations should consult their doctor.
