This occurs after the office has been struggling in recent years – including following the COVVI -19 pandemic – to accurately compile the annual aggregated crime data.
This was largely due to the transition from the office to the new national report system based on incidents he adopted in 2022. Many local police services had failed to move on to the new declaration of time incidents, which prompted the FBI 2021-2022 report to reflect an incomplete set of data, which was then adjusted by the office.
