Fantasy League of Books 2025: Queer Books Edition

My reasoning for these selections falls into three difficult categories: because I think they could win prizes, because I think they could be popular, and because I love them very much.
Let’s start with prices and the best possibilities.
Stag Dance: a nove & stories By Torrey Peters: Detransition, baby It was a critical and popular success, so I think this follow -up has a chance to make better lists. In addition, I receive a multiplier for news.
Ten rebellion incarnations by Vahnavi Patel: Kikeyi was another very respected and popular title, so I hope it draws the best attention, if not literary awards. (I just finished reading it last night, and it’s excellent.)
Palaver By Bryan Washington: I stole this choice in the episode of the podcast, because reasoning has meaning for me. Bryan Washington is a beloved literary fiction writer, so there is a good chance that it attracts critical attention.
Sunburn By Chloé Michelle Howarth: It was a British version which is now published in North America, and it looks like the kind of book of cool girls who could explode on Tiktok or make better lists.
Disappoint me by Nicola Dinan: Belly Made a few large lists in 2023, so I hope that it will do the same in 2025. In addition, it is raised on my TBR, and this cover is perfect.
The Emperor of Joy By Ocean Vuong: this is probably the safest bet for me in the prize category, because Ocean Vuong is a decorated literary author.
Now, let’s talk about my choices which for the BestSeller / Goodreads Choice Awards categories.
Bury our bones in midnight soil By VE Schwab: VE Schwab is a popular author, and it is a book on toxic lesbian vampires. I couldn’t resist.
Atmosphere By Taylor Jenkins Reid: In one way or another, I just discovered that it is a queer book ?? Obviously, The seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo is one of the most popular and most famous queer books ever written, so I had to include this.
Hungry saints By Caitlin Starling: I have a junk relationship with the books of Caitlin Starling. One, I evaluated 5 stars, one, I evaluated 2 stars. But this medieval sapphic horror seems so good. I will be shocked if it is not at least in the first round of the Goodreds Choice Awards in the horror category.
The Guardian of Magic Things By Julie Leong: The comfortable fantasy is always very popular, and it looks like the perfect example. The storyteller of small fortunes Have done well enough, so I hope this follow -up will follow its traces.
And finally, I have a few choices that I know are probably not rational, but I simply could not bear to cut them, because I am rooted for them.
Awake By Ae Osworth: you can read my complete review of this fantastic novel about a Coven of Trans Witches fighting a bad AI, but just say that it was five stars.
Sympathy for wild girls: stories By Demree McGhee: This collection of news is perfect for fans of Carmen Maria Machado. He deserves to win prizes and make the best lists, but it is from a small press, so I don’t know if it will attract attention. On the other hand, I would get several multipliers because it is a first collection of news from an independent publisher.
