Tim Westwood – The long-time DJ for BBC Radio and Capital Extra – faces multiple accusations of rape and sexual misconduct, dating back to the 1980s.
On Thursday, the UK Crown Prosecution Service gave the Metropolitan Police Service the green light to charge Westwood with four counts of rape, nine counts of indecent assault, and two counts of sexual assault… stemming from incidents involving 7 different women.
Tim Westwood is accused of indecently assaulting a 17-year-old girl in the London borough of Fulham in 1983; The sexual assault of a woman in her twenties in the Vauxhall area of London in 1986; Sexually assaulting the same female aged 17 and 18 in central London sometime between 1995 and 1996; The rape and sexual assault of a girl aged between 17 and 18 in London sometime between 2000 and 2001; Two women in their 20s were raped and sexually assaulted in 2010 in London and Stroud, respectively; The sexual assault of a woman in her twenties in the Finchley area of London.
Director of Metropolitan Police Investigations Andy Furphy He praised the alleged victims. “It takes courage to come forward and report allegations of this kind. The women who have done this have put their trust in us, and we continue to offer them all the support available.” He added that the investigation is ongoing, and police encourage anyone with information to contact authorities.
Westwood is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on November 10. He has since deleted his social media profiles on Instagram, Facebook and X.
