Experts reveal a 5R approach to improve intestinal health and stimulate immunity

A healthier intestine could start with a letter.
Some medical experts recommend using the “5R approach” to help restore intestine biodome, which can improve mood, reduce inflammation and reduce certain chronic health conditions, including irritable colon syndrome (IBS) and autoimmune diseases.
Invented for the first time by the Washington Functional Medicine Institute, the plan focuses on five components of intestinal healing to help restore global digestive health.
The “western diet” blamed for an increasing risk of gastrointestinal cancer in young adults
These include the elimination of harmful toxins and triggers, the replacement of exhausted digestive enzymes, the reinoculation of “good” bacteria in the intestine, repairing the intestinal lining and rebalancing.
DRE Sydne Ford-Norton, a certified family medical medicine and co-founder of Spark Performance and Wellness in Atlanta, Georgia, said the 5R approach helped its patients increase their energy level, reduce bloating and improve stool in a month.

Intestinal health connection
Poor food, certain drugs, environmental exposures and food sensitivities can all disturb the intestinal microbiome, doctors said at Fox News Digital.
This can cause symptoms such as gas, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, irritable intestine and joint pain.
The tendency of social media in “coffee enema” is expanding health problems among doctors
The condition can also ensure that the cellular lining of the “flee” intestine of food particles and poorly digested inflammatory cells in the blood circulation, triggering inflammation and autoimmune reactions.
“The gastrointestinal tract is the largest immune body in the body,” said Dr. Joel Evans, chief of medical affairs at the Institute of Functional Medicine, in Fox News Digital in an interview.
“When you have any problems with your intestine, not only do you not feel well, but you end up with problems with your immune system, which can lead to an autoimmune disease.”

Jesús M. Luévano, MD, Gastroenterologist of Atlanta and spokesperson for the American Gastroenterological Association, confirmed the role that intestinal balance plays in global health.
“What we eat affects what we feel, from the microscopic level where it promotes cellular health, to the balance of our intestinal microbiome with our own homeostasis,” he told Fox News Digital.
“Providing our intestine and microbiome with good energy forms and avoiding pro -inflammatory agents – such as fried and fatty foods, alcohol, tobacco and ultra -revised food – is a key element for good intestinal health.”
“The gastrointestinal tract is the largest immune organ in the body.”
Dr. Alan Weiss, medical director of Annapolis Integrative Medicine in Maryland, agreed that there was “no question” with regard to GUT’s influence on global health.
“Your gastrointestinal tract contains around 80% of your body’s immune fabric, and your intestine produces around 85% of body neurotransmitters,” Weiss to Fox News Digital.
What are the 5R?
The 5R approach is based on the following essential steps to restore a healthy intestinal balance.
Withdraw
The elimination of stress factors, food and toxins considered to be inflammatory triggers is the first step, according to Ford-Norton.
These generally include gluten, dairy products, sugar and processed foods. Tests can be carried out to detect any food sensitivity or allergy.

Replace
This component is to replace exhausted digestive enzymes, vitamins and minerals.
“Many people do not produce the enzymes necessary to properly break down food and get the nutrients we need,” said Ford-Norton.
Reinopulate
Reinoculation consists in introducing good bacteria to the intestine through prebiotics and probiotics.
“If you come back in time, people knew that fermented foods were important,” noted Ford-Norton. “While we took care of each other in society and we have moved away from eating a more natural diet, we have stopped eating these foods and replaced them with processed foods.”
Two of these fruits per day can stimulate intestinal health, fight against the risk of cancer, said the doctor
The expert encourages people to get their prebiotics through food rather than a separate supplement.
Foods rich in fiber, as well as fermented foods such as sauerkraut and kimchi, are rich sources of nutrients, she advised.
Repair
Repairing the intestinal lining is essential to improve the absorption of nutrients and the reduction in inflammation.
“Inflammation is the underlying imbalance that leads to most complex chronic diseases in the population, then this affects our emotional well-being through the intestinal connection,” said Evans.

In most cases, Ford-Norton noted, the intestine undergoes a certain degree of damage-perhaps from drugs, such as antibiotics or chronic stress.

It generally prescribes omega-3 fatty acids, L-glutamine, zinc supplements and anti-inflammatory herbs such as Aloe Vera to repair the intestinal lining.
“It is a question of rebalancing your emotions, your nervous system and your digestive system.”
Eating foods rich in omega-3, including chia seeds, hemp seeds and nuts, can also be useful.
It is important to check with a doctor before taking supplements to avoid any interaction with the underlying conditions, added Ford-Norton.

Rebalancing
The rebalancing is “the key component that many people lack”, according to Ford-Norton.
“Many people just want to take supplements, (and) feel better without their sleep.”

To rebalance, the doctor recommends taking seven to nine hours of sleep every night and using stress management tools such as yoga, meditation and walks.
“It’s about rebalances your emotions, your nervous system and your digestive system-everything plays together,” she said.
The advice is essential
During the implementation of 5R, Ford-Norton said it was important to jump any part.
“I have seen so many people who follow the elimination diet, but they don’t make the component replace or reinforce, so they have incomplete treatment,” she told Fox News Digital.

Evans and Ford -Norton have agreed that if the 5R approach is not a guaranteed remedy for health problems, they have experienced improvements in the symptoms of many patients – and in some cases the inversion of chronic diseases.

Weiss noted that if the 5R approach is a good resource, it is also essential to see a doctor to exclude infections or other diseases that could contribute to a person’s symptoms.
