Ex-lawyer: no “easy path” for prosecutors in the trial for the murder of Charlie Kirk

A former American lawyer who became a member of the first mandate congress warns that prosecutors could face several obstacles in the case against the accused killer of Charlie Kirk, warning the trial will be anything but simple.
Representative Brad Knott, RN.C., is a first-year legislator who resigned from the United States prosecutor’s office for the Oriental District of North Carolina at the end of 2023 to appear at Congress.
Looking at the case of Tyler Robinson from an external point of view, Knott said that he thought that those responsible for the law enforcement “proceeded in an appropriate manner”, but that from his past experience as high-level affairs like this were “never as cut and dry” that they appeared to certain public members.
“In some respects, I have mercy on the accusation because there are so many unique angles here,” Knott told Fox News Digital. “The most difficult part of these types of cases is to start the process without conclusion. And it is particularly difficult when you look at the Tyler Robinson affair.”

He provided that there would be “a lot in the media” and “some, even in the application of laws” which could conclude too early that the case is already resolved.
“And proceed when this case is as public as it is, when it is as widely seen and examined as that of this noise outside of your competence as aquetter, as a prosecutor, as a medical-legal analyst, as a guardian of proof … In the future as if the conclusion was not in hand, it is the most difficult part here,” he said.
Knott stressed that he couldn’t even be assumed that Robinson had committed the murder until he was decided in court – stressing that there were a lot of mobile documents.
“We know that there have been conversations with other people leading to this criminal act, the murder. We know that there were many people surrounding the suspect,” he said. “We know that there are many people who have an interest in resolving this affair which are not in the application of laws. I mean, go to X, go to social networks. All this can make it more difficult to obtain an objective sample of evidence, right?”
Robinson faces multiple state accusations in UTAH, including aggravated murder. Heads said they were planning to ask for the death penalty.

The 22-year-old is accused of having killed Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA and a conservative activist, when he spoke during a university campus event in UTAH earlier this month. Kirk was shot in the neck and was soon declared dead.
In addition to the public pressure on prosecutors, Knott noted that there would be “intense control” on people surrounding Robinson.
“Whenever this type of control is taken from someone, whether it is their former classmates, colleague, friends, social circles, family – what you want is just a first -hand account without any induction,” said Knott.

“You don’t want them to conclude anything. You want them to describe, you want them to tell. And when you have all this advertising and the sensational posture of this case, it is very difficult to be objectively witness.”
And if Robinson is not guilty, Knott predicted a full -fledged defense attempt by his lawyers.

“If Mr. Robinson is actually guilty of the accusations that are brought against him, there will be an extreme defense if he does not plead. And whenever there is an extremely vigorous defense, it is never simple,” he said.
“A victory for the defense can be defeated by one of the accusations of aggravated murder, or it could be to overcome the death penalty – whatever.

Knott said he would anticipate a multitude of challenges from the defense team, as well as attempt to mention a kind of sympathy for their client.
“What I plan is that each search mandate will be challenged. Each type of digital evidence will be disputed. The admissibility of the most overwhelming evidence will be disputed. The jury seats will be disputed. Everything will be resisted,” he said. “And so I don’t expect it to be a very easy way to follow.”
