The Democratic Governor of Wisconsin with two mandates, Tony Evers, announced Thursday that he would not present himself for a third term, choosing to close five decades in the public service.
Evers shared a video message on social networks with the announcement. He said that there was “no question” that he would win if he was running again, but Evers said that he had to resign so that he could focus more on them.
“I started my race for the governor as a proud Plymouth progressive and it is still who I am today. I am a science teacher in the soul who ended up presenting himself in the elections and winning five consecutive elections on the scale of the state,” said Evers in his video announcement, entitled “A love letter from me to Kathy and my family – and to you, Wisconsin.”

“Would I win if I ran a sixth time? Of course, there is no doubt about it. But if I would win or not, I have never been part of my calculation on the race,” continued in his video ad.
During the video, Evers also thanked his wife and family for having supported him through his five decades of public services, adding that he “must” spend time concentrating on “all the things we appreciate and like to do together”.
“Here is the truth Wisconsin: the only thing that I like more than being your governor is to be a husband, a father and a grandfather,” said Evers.

In response to the announcement of Evers, the Democratic Senator of Wisconsin, Tammy Baldwin, described The Move as “well -deserved retirement”.
“The Governor’s commitment to the education of each child, our teachers and public schools will undoubtedly shape our future for the best,” Baldwin wrote in an official response to the announcement of Evers.
Baldwin praised Evers’s response to the Pandemic COVID-19, and added that the governor “faced the opposite winds to progress”.

Evers, however, was criticized for his response to the pandemic at the time by the Republicans after having tried several times to implement a mask on the scale of the state and the orders of stay at home. In the end, the Supreme Court of the State canceled its orders, invoking the overflow of the governor’s executive authority.
Evers has not escaped any potential stage of his online shared video announcement Thursday, except to be with his family.
