Eric Adams dissipates rumors that he joins the Trump administrator: “ I run ”

The mayor of New York, Eric Adams, held a press conference on Friday to dispel the general rumors that he would abandon his re -election offer and promised to stay in the race, saying: “I run, and I will beat Mamdani.”

Adams, who was elected mayor as a democrat in 2022, presents himself as an independent and faces a difficult battle against the candidate of the mayor of the Democratic Party, Zohran Mamdani, Muslim and socialist of Ugandan origin. The former Democratic Governor of New York Andrew Cuomo also presents himself as independent after losing against Mamdani in the primary democratic race in June.

Adams targeted Mamdani and Cuomo at his press conference, saying: “I have two spoiled frogs that arise to the mayor.”

“I want to be clear with you,” added Adams. “Andrew Cuomo is a snake and a liar. I am in this race, and I am the only one who can beat Mamdani.

“It is such an essential and important period, and we have to do things well,” he added.

“They were born with silver spoons in their mouths. Not like the New Yorkers in the working class. I am a New Yorker in the working class. They are not like us,” he said. “They never had to fight. They never had to fight. They never had difficult times like you and I had to go through New Yorkers.”

He particularly targeted Cuomo, accusing him of having “a career of pushing black candidates outside the races”.

He also discussed rumors that he is in discussion with President Donald Trump about his administration.

“There are a lot of reports that I am in Washington on Monday. These reports are bad. I am not,” said Adams. “I’m going to move to this city in the five arrondissements that made me mayor in the first place. I present myself to re -elect, and I will say to New Yorkers every day why I think I should be the mayor of the city of New York in 2026.”

He recognized that he was considerably behind Mamdani in the ballot boxes but rejected this, saying: “I hear the polls. I hear the comments. I hear the experts.

“But it was the same polls which indicated eight weeks that Andew Cuomo was up 36 points, and even his survey had increased it by 10 points. It was the same polls that said that he was going to enter to become the mayor of the city of New York (who), according to him.”

“I run and I will beat Mamdani. And I will continue the success that this city has witnessed,” he said.
