New York mayor Eric Adams abandoned the city town hall race on Sunday, interrupting his re -election campaign.

The release of Adams occurs while New York City looks at the potential election of Mamdani, a 33 -year -old democratic socialist.

These proposals have boosted progressive voters, but rocked Wall Street, where managers warn that they could stimulate New York investments and weaken the city’s tax base.

Treasury secretary Scott Bessent said Mamdani’s proposals on Wednesday may lead to New York in financial crisis, warning that if the city turns to Washington for bailout, it will not receive one.

“You cannot adopt policies like this and expect to be bailed up,” said Bessent during an interview with Maria Bartiromo de Fox Business “Mornings With Maria”.

“And will you give them this bailout?” Bartiromo pressed.

“It will be the same thing that Gerald Ford said. Drop dead,” said Bessent.
