A tow truck driver in Los Angeles faces a federal charge to tow an immigration and customs (ICE) vehicle on August 15, and he could be behind bars for a decade if he is found guilty.

Bobby Nunez would have laughed and filmed as he towed a vehicle belonging to ICE agents, according to a federal criminal complaint obtained by Fox News Digital. The agents were in the midst of an operation to stop an illegal immigrant and made their emergency fires flash when they locked themselves in the target vehicle with theirs to prevent it from escape.

“Apparently, he thought it would be funny to interfere with our immigration application operations. Now he can laugh behind bars while he is facing justice. Nunez is considering up to 10 years in federal prison if she is found guilty,” the American prosecutor Bill Essayli published Tuesday to X on Tuesday.

The arrest comes as tensions between activists and the federal government remain high in Los Angeles, while a judge published an injunction saying that the Trump administration was not authorized to send the National Guard to appease anti-glacial demonstrations in June.

“Donald Trump is losing again. The courts agree – his militarization of our streets and the use of soldiers against American citizens is illegal,” Governor Gavin Newsom told X on Tuesday.

“The soldiers will stay in Los Angeles. This is a false story and a misleading injunction. The military have never engaged in direct law operations here in Los Angeles,” said Essayli. “They protect our federal employees our properties so that our federal agents can securely apply federal laws in the face of thugs that are unhealthy and encouraged by state politicians and local.”
