Dni Gabbard publishes more than 230,000 MLK assassination files under Trump’s order

The director of national intelligence Tulsi Gabbard announced the publication of more than 230,000 files related to the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in response to a decree by President Donald Trump.
“The American people waited almost 60 to see the entire scope of the federal government’s investigation into the assassination of Dr. King,” said Gabbard. “Under the direction of President Trump, we make sure that no stone has been not returned to our mission to offer complete transparency on this pivotal and tragic event in the history of our nation. I appreciate my deepest the appreciation of the King family for their support.”
The files are published as part of Trump’s commitment to publish previously classified documents linked to King, as well as President John F. Kennedy and Senator Robert F. Kennedy.
The latest batch of files includes details on the FBI survey in King’s assassination.

Some of the documents relate to a discussion on potential tracks, FBI internal memos concerning the progress of the case and those linked to the former cell companion of James Earl Ray, who said he had discussed an alleged assassination plot with Ray.
In addition, the release has foreign evidence of Canadian police concerning Ray to flee the country after King’s assassination.
“The American people deserves responses from decades after the horrible assassination of one of the great leaders of our country,” said Prosecutor General Pamela Bondi. “The Ministry of Justice is proud to associate with the director Gabbard and the ODNI in the direction of President Trump for this last disclosure.”

The children of King, Bernice and Martin Luther King III, had previously opposed the release of documents and published a statement on Monday.
“We recognize that the release of documents concerning the assassination of our father, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., has long been a subject of interest, captivating public curiosity for decades,” said the press release on X. “Like the children of Dr. King and Mrs. Coretta Scott King for more than 57 years.

Gabbard announced in April that documents related to the 1968 assassinations of RFK and MLK would be published in the coming days, noting that more than 100 people “worked 24 hours a day to scan documents related to both murders and subsequent investigations.
She told Trump at a meeting from the Cabinet to the White House in April that the documents were storage for decades and had never been scanned or seen before.
After taking office, Trump published an executive decree to declare the files on King’s assassinations, a civil rights icon that was shot down on April 4, 1968, outside his Tennessee hotel room on the second floor in Memphis.
