Minneapolis, MN – The growing discord between democrats during the current war in Gaza between Israel and Hamas broke out on the second day of the summer meeting of the National Democratic Committee (DNC).

The tension came then that a key committee of the DNC voted a symbolic resolution calling for an embargo on arms and a suspension of American military aid in Israel, which has long been the best American ally in the Middle East.

The DNC resolutions committee, during a separate vote, unanimously adopted a resolution reaffirming party support for diversity, actions and values of inclusion in the midst of a massive conservative reaction in recent years.

But seizing the spotlight on Tuesday, while more than 400 party officials of the 50 states and seven territories were nestled in the largest city in Minnesota this week was the war in Gaza, which was triggered by the horrible on October 7, 2023, ambushed by Hamas on Israel.

A resolution introduced and supported by the president of the DNC, Ken Martin, who called for a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas, as well as unrestricted access to humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza, was adopted unanimously by the panel.

But the defeat of the second more energetic resolution, which was introduced by Allison Minnerly, 26, a new member of the Florida DNC, sparked an opposition among certain members of the panel.

“It is not enough,” said the DNC de Washington DC committee Sophia Danenberg, stressing Martin’s resolution. “People want to hear a stronger and stronger statement.”

Danenberg stressed: “I fear that we are losing our future as a Democratic Party by not making courage on this issue.”

A few minutes later, following a private conversation between Martin and Minnerly, the DNC president asked the committee to “withdraw my resolution so that we can move United today and have the conversation”.

Martin’s astonishing movement was adopted by the committee.

Nearly 1,200 people in Israel were killed after Hamas set them an ambush, with more than 250 people taken hostage. In the almost two years that followed the attack, more than 60,000 Palestinians were killed by the current military response in Israel, according to the Ministry of Health managed by Hamas in Gaza.

And the confrontation on resolutions comes when the formerly almost unshakable support of the Democratic Party in Israel has fractured in the midst of the bloodshed. And the concerns about the growing number of deaths among the Palestinians by many members of the progressive party of the party have skyrocketed this spring and this was in the midst of what many describe as a famine in Gaza. Recent polls indicate that support for the continuous military actions of Israel in Gaza is falling among the Democrats.

The split in the party is partly between an older and more moderate wing which is prudent when it comes to blame Israel, and a younger and more progressive wing which wants a robust action in response to human suffering in Gaza.

“One thing on which all this room can agree is that the crisis in Gaza is urgent,” said Martin, presenting his resolution. This resolution focuses on the humanitarian crisis and clearly indicates that it must be considered the urgency it is. “”

And Martin’s resolution also called for “long -term peace through a solution to two states” between Israel and the Palestinians.

Minnerly said that his more energetic resolution “would ensure that the Democratic Party would follow the will of our voters and call the end of us at the end of this tragedy.

Martin, after calling for the withdrawal of his competing resolution, urged the Democrats to “move forward in a conversation on this subject as a party. We must continue to work through this. We must find a way to follow as a party, and we must remain unified.”

And the president said that he would “appoint a committee or a working group made up of stakeholders on all sides of this to continue to have the conversation”.

But Minnerly, after the start of the committee, told journalists: “I think it is disappointing that the conversation ends here today and that at this meeting of the DNC, there will be no more conversation on Gaza when it is so critical for people.”

And Joe Salas, member of the California DNC committee and American Muslim, told Fox News after the defeat of Minnerly’s resolution, that “I think there is a disconnection between the inhabitants of the committee and the average locking and barrel voters who identify with the Democratic Party”.

Although the result has left many disappointed, the debate was ordered and there was no protest or disturbance of the Committee meeting.

The Republican National Committee, after the meeting, castigated Martin.

“The president of the weak DNC, Ken Martin, was the victim of intimidation by radical anti -Semitic members to withdraw a resolution which recognizes the right of Israel to exist”, the RNC Billed In an article on social networks.

The competing resolutions of Gaza were among the 19 resolutions voted by the panel.

Among them, the resolution of I, which called for “asserting the American values of diversity, equity and inclusion”.

The author of the Resolution, the member of the DNC, Bill Owen of Tennessee, a former state senator, told my republican friends and his colleagues citizens … who claim to be active Christians, I remind them that Dei is the very foundation of the Christian Church. I become a little emotional on this subject, but Jesus loves small children. All children.

President Donald Trump and the Republicans, during last year’s campaign, have repeatedly targeted the Democrats to support Dei’s efforts and transgender rights, transforming them into political liabilities.

And after the reverse of the Democrats in last year’s elections, when the party lost control of the White House, the Senate, and did not recognize the majority of the Chamber, some in the party suffered from their long support for Dei and the rights of the transgender.

The resolutions adopted Tuesday by the panel will face votes Wednesday by all the members of the DNC at the end of the general session of the National Committee of the National Party.
