Senator Jeff Merkley, D-ear. Accused the director of management and budget management of Trump (OMB), Russell Vought, of being responsible for the death of hundreds of thousands of children due to the budget cuts he supervised under the Trump administration.

Vought had to face a high intensity of the grills of the democratic senators and the GOP in the Senate credit committee on Wednesday Above a set of proposed budget cuts – called a set of attractions – the administration sent to legislative management earlier this month.

The members of the Democratic Committee, as well as certain Republicans, seemed very frustrated by the administration on the proposed cuts. At one point during the hearing, several demonstrators got up and started to scream, causing the procedure briefly arrested. We did not know what the demonstrators opposed.

While Vought said that the administration cuts in the USAID and PEPFAR had not interrupted a rescue treatment, Merkley said that the complaint is a “enormous deception”.

According to Merkley, a study by the Boston University School of Public Health says that some 246,000 children died due to the various foreign aid programs reduced to Doge.

“We are talking about a quarter of a million children due to your irresponsible closure of programs that the congress had fully authorized, and you have not institutionally closed in partnership with Elon Musk and the Secretary of State,” licensed Merkley. “What do you think of being responsible for hundreds of thousands of children who die because of your sudden interruption of these key programs?”

Vought has considerably rejected the assertion, claiming that each administration “has the capacity to do a programmatic examination when they come into office” and to make changes according to “new expenditure priorities”.

Before being able to finish, Merkley cut Vought Off, saying: “I find your answer both ignorant and insensitive.”

“You have chosen to close programs in the middle that have resulted in hundreds of thousands of children who have died in recent months. I find that, heinous, and few Americans have ever had such a devastating and disastrous impact,” exclaimed Merkley.

Senator Patty Murray, D-Wash., Also confronted Vought, accusing the administration of having tried to maneuver illegally around the congress to carry out his cuts, which said that American interests abroad.

“Do you want to say specifically where, the Philippines, the Pacific Islands, Jordan, you plan to undermine American interests?” She asked which Vought replied: “Of course not. We were very clear in all the priorities of the administration according to which all our commitments concerning Jordan and Egypt are maintained.”

Before Vought could finish, Murray has cut again, saying: “I guess you cannot share what humanitarian crisis with which this administration plans to leave, what we will vote on, and this is essential information.”

But it was not only the Democrats who took Vought on the task during the hearing.

Senator Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, also expressed her frustration against the Doge Cuts of the Trump administration, taking a particular problem with cuts with public broadcasting, which, according to her, plays an important role in emergency services in her state.

Senator Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., Also expressed objections to the cuts at Aid Foreign, which, according to him, were opportunities to project the Soft American Soft Power.

“Instead of creating efficiency, you have created vacuum cleaners for opponents such as China to fill responsible investments in the soft power, prevent conflicts, preserve American influence and save countless lives at the same time,” said McConnell.

For its part, Vought said that “it is essential that this body and the American people shine, understand that many foreign aid programs use benevolent consonance titles to hide a truly appalling activity which is not in accordance with American interests”.
