Senator Alex Padilla was seen near Noem’s podium at the press conference.
“We write to express our deep concern concerning the shocking and deeply disturbing ill -treatment of the American senator Alex Padilla,” said legislators in the letter.
The letter stipulates that “Senator Padilla has clearly identified and acted in his rights as a member of the Congress” and that “this unprecedented incident is not simply an affront to the security protocol – this is a constitutional question – because these actions can constitute an assault against an exercise senator”.
Democrats call for a “rapid and decisive action” of the Congress Management “to maintain the dignity and the authority of the congress”.
“If members of the US Senate can be physically selected for looking for answers from executive officials, this establishes a precedent dangerous for the independence of the legislative branch,” said the letter.
