According to the company’s website, it is also a “proud employer” of the staff of the New York Police Service, which Mamdani previously called to finance, as well as the New York State police, the New York Sheriff Office and several other law enforcement services in the region.

The objective indicated for the various payments, which varied from about $ 8,000 to around $ 13,000, is “security”.

Mamdani also recently made the headlines for leaving New York to launch a sumptuous marriage celebration in Uganda, which would have been kept by armed Ugandan military forces as well as its own private security details.

The exclusive three -day wedding party in Uganda also included masked military security and a jarmage system by mobile phone.

Mamdani was faced with an intense reaction for his previous calls to finance the NYPD after a deadly shooting in the center of Manhattan last month who left five people, including the suspect and officer of the NYPD Didarul Islam, dead.

On June 28, 2020, Mamdani posted on social networks: “We do not need an investigation to know that the NYPD is racist, anti-reservoir and a major threat to public security. What we need is #defundthenypd. But your compromise uses the police.”

“We need a socialist municipal council to finance the police,” he wrote again on July 3, 2020.

Again, in December 2020, Mamdani wrote, the New York Municipal Council “tried to ensure that the NYPD half reduced its extension budget. They simply refused. There is no negotiation with such a nasty and corrupt institution. Found it. Take the cycle of violence.”

The “visceral disdain” passed by Mamdani for the police “scares a lot of New York” for a good reason: the New York crime expert

However, Mamdani took a very different tone during his campaign, saying this week that these tweets are “out of step with my candidate positions”.

After the shooting, he told journalists at a press conference: “I was not running I was not running to finance the police.”

However, he did not disavow a more recent article on social networks of December 2024 in which he undertook to dissolve the NYPD strategic response group (SRG), which is responsible for responding to mass fire and other emergencies.

He wrote: “As mayor, I dissolve the SRG, which cost taxpayers to the millions of trials of trials and brutalized countless New Yorks exercising their rights to the first amendment.”
