The former New York governor, Andrew Cuomo, intends to present himself as an independent in the race for New York town hall after having undergone a two -figure defeat against the Democratic Socutist Zohran Mamdani in the recent democratic primary.
Cuomo’s planned race, reported by NewspaperWhere his brother Chris is an anchor, would set him up against the outgoing mayor Eric Adams, a democrat who went this year to an independent race, Mamdani, a 33 -year -old assembly, and Curtis Sliwa, the republican candidate. Cuomo plans to ask all candidates not to direct the race for the mayor in mid-September to judge to abandon, Newsnation reported.
A spokesperson for Andrew Cuomo said there will soon be an official announcement.
Cuomo stayed on the ballot after the primary as an independent, but he left open questions to find out if he had to campaign actively.
“I want to look at all the figures as they arrive and analyze the vote of the choice of rank,” said Cuomo while the primary ended. “I will then consult my colleagues on what is the best way for me to help the city of New York, because I have already qualified myself to appear to the mayor on an independent line in November.”

Mamdani’s upset victory has placed the Democrats in the precarious position to join a candidate who has promoted controversial positions that include the increase in income taxes on the best employees in the city, the installation of grocery store managed by the government and the use of public funds to make universal daycare services.

Mamdani, who is a Muslim, also made a meticulous examination for his vehement opposition to Israel, a key ally of the Middle East for the United States. Cuomo is distinguished from Mamdani during the primary race by pleading for Israel and obtaining the support of pro-Israeli donors.
Mamdani is supported by representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, DN.Y., and recently obtained an approval from the representative Adriano Espailt, DN.Y., an influential Dominican American in the city. The town hall candidate also courted the New York labor and teachers’ unions, some of which reported support for him.
