Former FBI director James Comey said he was “not afraid” of President Donald Trump’s Ministry of Justice after being charged Thursday for allegedly lied to the Congress and hindered a congress procedure.
“My family and I have known for years that there are costs to resist Donald Trump, but we could not imagine living differently,” said Comey, who denies allegations, in an Instagram video. “We will not live on your knees, and you should not either. Someone I love very recently says that fear is the tool of a tyrant, and it is right.”
“But I’m not afraid,” added Comey.

Comey was charged by a large jury following an investigation centered on the question of whether he lied to the congress at his September 30, 2020, testimony to his management of the original Trump-Russia investigation at the FBI, known inside the office under the name of “Crossfire Hurricane”. The accusation act also alleys that Comey made a false statement when he said that he had not authorized someone to the FBI to be an anonymous source. According to the indictment, this declaration was false.
“My heart is broken for the Ministry of Justice, but I have great confidence in the federal judicial system,” continued Comey. “I am innocent. So let’s make a lawsuit and keep the faith.”
Patrick J. Fitzgerald will represent Comey in the case and said that his client denies the accusations.
“Jim Comey denies the accusations filed today in their entirety,” said Fitzgerald in a statement. “We are impatient to justify it in the courtroom.”

Comey would have visited Friday, and his indictment was set at 10 am on October 9 before the district judge Michael S. Nachmanoff, a judge appointed by former president Joe Biden.
FBI director Kash Patel defended the work of the office in the case by praising career agents and analysts who conducted the investigation.
“They called the bullets and the strikes and will continue to do so,” Patel said in a statement. He rejected allegations of politicization as “false accusations” and criticisms said that the criticisms repeated the same stories “in bankruptcy” linked to the investigation in Russia.
“It is a hypocrisy on steroids. Their baseless objections now tell us, more than ever, that we are precisely on the target and will remain on a mission until the completion,” said Patel.
President Trump went to Truth Social Friday to celebrate the indictment and said Comey a “dirty cop”.
“Whether you like Corrupt James Comey or not, and I can’t imagine too many people who love him, he lied!” Trump wrote. “It is not a complex lie, it is very simple, but important. There is no way that he can explain his path.”
Trump said Comey had “unexpectedly” had “but that it started with the case assigned to a judge named Biden.
“He knew exactly what he said, and that it was a very serious and large -scale lie for which a very big price must be paid for!” Trump wrote.
The accusation act alleys that Comey hampered an investigation by the congress on the disclosure of sensitive information in violation of 18 USC 1505.
