Chinese student visas raise national security problems, warns experts

An expert in China warns that the Chinese student visa of President Donald Trump pushes in the midst of commercial negotiations between the United States and China could exacerbate the growing influence of the CCP in American universities.
The expert in politics in China, Michael Sobolik, principal researcher at the Hudson Institute, explains where things are located at the moment, while several conservatives were ringing the alarm on how the push could allow the influence of the Chinese Communist Party in the United States
Sobolik explained that Chinese students in the United States can become a major responsibility for national security, adding that the CCP has taken advantage of Chinese nationals to “advance malignant influence operations”.

Sobolik continued by stressing the history of trade agreements between Trump and Xi Jinping.
“”I think that is partly a function of the fact that (Trump) tries to conclude a trade agreement with Xi Jinping and that he wants to smooth this route, make sure that there are no bumps along the way, just as he did during his first mandate when he tried to negotiate his trade agreement with China, “he said.

President Donald Trump said at a meeting on Tuesday that “the university system would go to hell very quickly” if Chinese students’ visa policy was considerably modified.

“And it would not be the best colleges, so it would be colleges that find it at the bottom. And you withdraw 300,000 or 600,000 students from the system,” said Trump.
“”I like to have, and I told that to President XI that we are honored to have their students here. Now, with that, we check with caution and we see who is there, “continued the president.
“President Trump does not offer an increase in student visas for Chinese students. The 600K refers to two years of visas,” said a White House official on Thursday. “It is simply a continuation of existing policy.”

Sobolik said universities will ultimately accompany the “repressive tactics of China” because he says that students are ready to attend American institutions at their high price.

“These are not only STEM programs and security risks. This is not only what the Chinese government does on these campuses. This is how universities are accomplices because they need this money. Everything is a question of results for them, and American values suffer,” added Sobolik.
