DC prosecutor Brian Schwalb announced Thursday that he had filed a complaint to counter the repression of the crime of the Trump administration in Washington, DC

Schwalb said that the Comitatus Posse law prohibits soldiers from engaging in domestic police, alleging that the national guards operated in DC under direct military command.

“It is clearly illegal, and it threatens our democracy and our civil freedoms,” he wrote.

“President Trump is in his legitimate power to deploy the National Guard to Washington, DC to protect federal assets and help the police with specific tasks,” White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson told Fox News Digital in a statement. “This trial is nothing more than another attempt – to the detriment of residents and visitors to DC – to undermine the very successful operations of the president to arrest violent crimes at DC.”

An executive decree of August 25 has expanded the role of the National Guard in the national police by creating a specialized unit within the National Guard of DC which is “dedicated to public security and order in the national capital”.

Schwalb noted that once the troops leave, they could be redeployed at any time.

“The misdeeds in the district are immense,” he wrote. “The National Guard units operate without legal authority and without training of the police. They create confusion, betray each other, erude confidence, ignite tensions and harm the crucial relationship between the police and the communities they serve.”

He then accused the national guards of undergoing public security and of harming the local economy by depressing vital industries such as restaurants, hotels and tourism.

The trial comes a few days after a federal judge ruled that the deployment by the administration of federal troops in Los Angeles during raids and immigration demonstrations was illegal, praising the governor of California Gavin Newsom and the mayor of Los Angeles Karen Bass.

It also followed a separate trial that Schwalb brought on August 15, which tried to block the federal takeover of the Metropolitan Police Department – the reduction in action violated the law on the rule of the domicile.
