First on Fox: The Ministry of Justice brought legal action against Boston about the allegations that city policies protect illegal immigrants from the federal authorities, marking an escalation in the fight of the Trump administration with the democratic bastion.

The Doj appointed the mayor of Boston Michelle Wu and the city police commissioner in the trial and focused on the Boston Trust Act, a law that prevents local police from cooperating with certain requests from the federal immigration authorities.

“The resistance (WU) endangers public security, which led to the release of a number of criminals in Boston which should have been detained for the withdrawal of the United States immigration,” said MJ lawyers in the complaint.

The trial is the last in a series of legal actions that the DoJ brought against cities and declares that it judges sanctuaries for illegal immigrants. In addition to the warning letters, he sent several jurisdictions, including Boston, the department continued Colorado, California, Illinois and others.

A federal judge rejected the DOJ’s trial against Illinois, claiming that his state and local policies were protected by the Constitution and that the GM has encroached on the sovereignty of Illinois. The ministry could appeal the decision. The legal fighting of the Trump administration with the courts of the sanctuary reflect those of the first administration, but a key trial against California on its sanctuary policies was never resolved by the Supreme Court before President Donald Trump leaves his functions.

Fox News Digital contacted Wu’s office to comment.

The mayor responded to the MJ’s warning letter last month, defending city policy, which prevents local police from responding to immigration and customs application to keep the prisoners who are illegal immigrants, but have no mandates for their arrest, in detention so that ice can stop them.

“The courts have always judged last month that last month, that local public security laws like the Boston Trust Act are valid exercises by local authorities and fully consistent with federal law,” Wu au Doj. “In the Massachusetts, the law of the State clearly explains the limits of participation in the federal immigration application.”

The Attorney General Pam Bondi said that Wu and his city “were among the worst sanctuary offenders in America”.

“They explicitly apply policies designed to undermine the application of laws and protect illegal foreigners from justice,” said Bondi. “If Boston does not protect its citizens from illegal foreign crime, this Ministry of Justice will do so.”
