Bondi comes up against Durbin on the deployment of the Trump National Guard in Chicago

The Attorney General Pam Bondi collided with Senator Dick Durbin, D-ill., On the deployment by President Donald Trump of the National Guard troops in Chicago on Tuesday.

The scholarship occurred during the Bondi testimony before the Senate’s judicial committee, Durbin Plant Bondi to justify the deployment. Bondi refused to detail his communications with the White House concerning the move, but she said that the troops were there to protect the residents of Chicago.

I want you to love Chicago as much as you hate President Trump. And currently, the National Guard is on the way to Chicago. If you do not protect your citizens, President Trump Will,” replied.

The couple continued to discuss as Durbin said that Trump’s budgetary plan has reduced the financing of certain law enforcement programs in Illinois. Bondi said that she “would work with” her office if he called specific programs.

“Tell me a specific subsidy that I deactivated in Illinois which would help the police, and I will work with you, but you did not do this,” said Bondi.

Durbin replied: “It’s my job to make you grill.”

FBI director Kash Patel, confirmed in an X post that he was linked to Chicago on Tuesday morning.

“Chicago will be saved, and this FBI will continue to crush violent crimes there, and across the country. Heading the Windy City now,” Patel wrote.

The exchange between Bondi and Durbin comes only a few days after the governor of Illinois JB Pritzker and the mayor of Chicago, Brandon Johnson, continued to prevent Trump from deploying troops in Chicago.

“We must now start to call this what he is: Trump’s invasion,” the Democratic Governor said in a statement.
