Billionaire Terry Pegula, the owner of the NFL Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabers from the NHL, is not in good standing with New Yorkers after a recent video of his Yacht anchored in Newport, Rhode Island, surfaced.
It is normal for billionaires to be spotted with these massive ships, but when the taxpayers of New York State partially cover the cost of the new $ 2.1 billion stadium of Bills in Buffalo, they are an exception to the yacht of $ 100 million in Pegula, “Top Five II”.
Some members of the “Mafia Bills” were furious and made their opinion known on social networks.

“The Pegulas relax in Newport while we pay for the stadium? Is it a slap in the face,” wrote a fan in a Reddit wire.
Another Reddit user wrote: “I love the bills, but this stadium affair is a flight. Pegulas pays nothing while we are going to go bankrupt.”
Although some are furious, others point to the finger of the legislators of the States.

“The city did not have to approve the agreement. They did it,” said an X user. “And he also put a hell of a good product on the field before building a new stadium. I don’t really stand with the billionaires here, but I just say that the city approved it. Not Terry.”
New York taxpayers will pay $ 600 million for the new construction of the Highmark stadium, while County Taxpayers add $ 250 million.

It is the most taxpayer money ever engaged in an NFL stadium.
There have been many criticisms of the agreement, in particular since PEGULA has a net value of $ 7 billion. While unleashing the share of the funds for the stadium, taxpayers believe that many millions could be used elsewhere, whether social services, education or other sector.
Adding to frustration is the fact that construction is $ 560 million compared to its initial estimate.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul, an unconditional Bills fan from Buffalo, said in January 2024 that he was “difficult” to go through legislation to get taxpayers money to help finance the stadium, but “we did”.
