“We don’t just need Zohran Mamdani to be our mayor because he has good ideas, or because they can be done. We need him because in his heart and in his bones, he cannot accept a city that assesses the people who built it and keep it on the move,” said Blasio.

The former mayor of NYC, Bill de Blasio, says that there is “a lot of exaggeration” on the fears of Mamdani

The former chief of the city of New York said that he had faced the same criticisms during his mandate as mayor of the largest city in the country, from 2014 to 2021.

“Throughout my stay at the Town Hall, the argument that my vision was recklessly idealistic – that it was both unrealistic and heavy with dangerous dangerous consequences – was thrown to my plans for affordable accommodation, days of paid illness, the minimum wage of $ 15 and above all, pre -k for all – all the initiatives I have delivered,” he said.

The former mayor defended the promises of Mamdani, notably Back Freezes, that his own administration has obtained several times for New Yorkers.

It is not a question of possibility – it is a question of political will,” added Blasio.

While President Donald Trump adopted his “big and beautiful bill” this year, which De Blasio described as “cutting the advantages of investigation, emptying Medicaid and leaving the workers to dry again,” he said that the need for an “unshakable fighter at the Town Hall has never been higher”.

Describing Mamdani’s radical vision for New York City as being based on his own impact there, by Blasio told voters that it was time to “go even further” with Mamdani as mayor.
