New York Brad Lander controller, a democrat, was released after being detained for only a few hours for allegedly assaulted an immigration official on Tuesday.

While Lander, who presents himself for the mayor of New York, is now considered a hero by many progressives, some say that his arrest was more political theater than activism.

Joe Borelli, a former New York city councilor and GOP political agent, told Fox News Digital that he thought that Lander’s arrest was a “staged event”.

“The ballot day is a week from today, and the early vote began. Do not go wrong, the goal was to make the headlines he obtained,” said Borelli. “It is an instant name of name and establishing even more in a liberal good faith.”

Addressing Fox News Digital, Borelli compared Lander’s arrest to the recent arrest of the mayor of Newark Democrat Ras Baraka and the detention of Senator Alex Padilla, D-Calif., Who were both detained for having allegedly disrupted the various federal events.

“It is the gaming book for left politicians who want to make a Grenail. They try to be arrested, they are arrested and then false to be arrested,” he said.

He continued by saying that the arrest of Lander was part of a “coordinated plan” which “benefits not only in Brad Lander, but also to Zohran Mamdani, which he interrupted”.

Lander was arrested by Department of Internal Security (DHS) Agents on Tuesday after pretending to attacked a federal officer.

Video sequences of the arrest of Lander seemed to show it hooked Immigration and customs application (ICE) agents while escorting a defendant outside the immigration court at 26 Federal Plaza, asking officials on several occasions if they had a judicial mandate.

“I will let go when you show me the judicial mandate,” said Lander in the video. “Where is he? Where is the mandate?”

A few hours later, Lander came out of the federal courthouse where he was detained. New York Governor Kathy Hochul said at a press conference outside the courthouse that the accusations against Lander had been abandoned, although the US prosecutor’s office for the South New York district said that he continued to investigate “Lander’s actions.

In response to the incident, a spokesperson for the DHS said: “Our heroic agents of the Application of Ice Laws are faced with an increase of 413% of assaults against them – it is false that politicians who seek a higher office undergo the security of the police to obtain a viral moment.”

“No one is above the law, and if you put your hand on an agent of the police, you will make consequences,” said the spokesperson.

Speaking after his release on Tuesday, Lander said: “I am grateful to learn that the accusations are not worn. But if they are, I have a lawyer. I do not have to worry about my rights in the regular procedure.”

Lander accused the Trump administration of “undressing” of illegal immigrants from their rights to regular procedure.

During the press conference outside the federal building, Lander said: “It is an essential moment to have a mayor who will resist the ice and resist Donald Trump and insist on the regular procedure and the laws of this city. It is a sanctuary city. I was proud to copardic these laws. And I will present myself and defend them.”

He thanked the many other candidates for the New York Democrat Town Hall who protested against his arrest and aimed at the former New York governor, Andrew Cuomo, who is the main candidate for the mayor of New York, saying: “New York deserves better in a mayor thanrew Cuomo.”

“I am very grateful to the other candidates for the town hall who came here to call for my release … and I really hope that New Yorkers will eliminate one of us,” said Lander.

The Republican leader of the New York Senate, Rob Ortt, responded to the incident by saying to Fox News Digital that “anyone who hinders or attacks law enforcement – including politicians eager for attention – deserves to be arrested”.

William O’Reilly, a Republican political consultant in New York, also sounded, telling Fox News Digital that he believes that “Lander is only the last New York Silver Progressist being arrested for supporting the rapes”.

“More than half of the Democrat mayor’s domain takes place on a platform for the derivation of American immigration law. It is all responsible voters who should need to know,” said O’Reilly.

The Lander office and campaign did not immediately respond to the request for comments from Fox News Digital.
