A group of war heroes on board Honor Flight from Wisconsin to Washington, D.C. got a big surprise when they touched down in our nation’s capital just before Veterans Day…because former President Barack Obama He was waiting for them.
Obama greeted the plane when it landed and spent some time with vets who served in the Korean and Vietnam wars.
The former president shared a video of the sweet interactions on social media, saying, “Prior to Veterans Day, I was honored to welcome a flight of veterans and their families as they arrived in D.C.”
Obama added… “To all of you who have bravely served our country, thank you and your family for your exceptional service. The sacrifices you have all made to protect our country will be honored, today and every day.”
On the plane, Obama grabbed the intercom and thanked the vets for their service and sacrifices.
The flight to D.C. was arranged by the Honor Flight Network, a nonprofit organization that flies vets and their families to our nation’s capital to visit monuments throughout the city.
Very cool stuff. America!!!
