EXCLUSIVE: The Interior Department announced on Tuesday that it is testing the National Mall’s autonomous lawns in Washington, DC, in an effort by the Trump administration to use artificial intelligence to “stimulate operational efficiency”.

In a prescription obtained by Fox News Digital, interior secretary Doug Burgum said that AI “will stimulate more intelligent decision -making, will stimulate operational efficiency and better deliver our main mission to advance the domination of American energy, to protect our natural resources, to associate tribal nations and to improve internal services.”

The Interior Department works with a private company, whose name has not been shared, to develop its AI technologies to be used by the agency.

The lawns came after the Trump administration published its “Action plan for America’s AI” In July, a plan aimed at ensuring American domination in AI. The plan highlights the role of AI in economic competitiveness and national security.
