Australia recognizes the Palestinian state: “the best hope of humanity”

Albanese announced last week that Australia will recognize the state of Palestine to the United Nations General Assembly in September. This decision follows similar commitments made by the United Kingdom, France and Canada. In addition, Australia has also canceled the visa of the religious legislator of the Zionist party Simcha Rothman, which is part of the coalition of Netanyahu.

Rothman had to embark on a “solidarity tour” to meet the Jewish community of Australia while it is struggling with anti -Semitism that increases.

“The time of cancellation at the last minute was nasty and intended to cause maximum damage to the Australian Jewish community. Mr. Rothman received his cancellation the day he had to go to the airport for his flight,” said Australian CEO Jewish Association (AJA), Robert Gregory, in a statement published on Facebook of the group. “The message of the Albanian government to the Jews is clear and we urge all the Jews to seriously examine whether it is sure for them to visit Australia under this government.”

Despite the ban, Aja managed to make Rothman for the Jewish community practically, saying that “the show will continue” and “the Jews will not win”.

“The Jewish community will not bow before Tony Burke or Penny Wong. Instead of many events, we will organize a large common event where Simcha will be addressed to the Jewish community via Zoom,” said Aja on X.

In response, the Israeli Foreign Affairs Minister Gideon Sa’ar said that he would revoke the visas for Australian representatives to the Palestinian authority. He also ordered the Israeli Embassy in Canberra “to carefully examine any official Australian visa request”.

“While anti -Semitism rages in Australia, including manifestations of violence against Jews and Jewish institutions, the Australian government chooses to feed it by false accusations, as if the visit of Israeli personalities would disrupt public order and harm the Muslim population of Australia”, wrote Sa’ar on X. “It is shameful and unacceptable.” “”

Aja praised Sa’ar’s decision, saying that “disgusting anti -Semitism of the Albanian government deserves a strong response”.

The Jews of Australia have seen an increase in anti -Semitism since the October 7 massacre of Hamas. According to a Annual report Adjustable by the Executive Council of the Australian Jewish Community (ECAJ), from October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024, the country saw 2,062 anti-Jewish incidents. This has marked a 316% increase since its report from the previous year – October 1, 2022 to September 30, 2023 – while there were 495 recorded incidents. Ecaj has not yet published a report for 2025.

The report documents assaults, verbal violence, vandalism and other incidents. When they are broken down into categories, anti-Jewish physical assault increased by 491% because the previous report and verbal violence increased by 230% over the same period.

Fox News Digital contacted AJA and the Albanese office but did not receive any responses for publication.
