German activist Naomi Seibt, nicknamed “Anti-Greta” by Europeans, has requested political asylum in the United States, saying she is being persecuted in her native country because of her political views and advocacy for free speech.

Seibt, 25, submitted his petition under Section 208 of the Immigration and Nationality Act, saying returning to Germany would expose him to imprisonment or physical harm.

“I’ve now applied for asylum, which means I’m waiting for an interview. And in the meantime, I’m here legally,” Seibt told Fox News Digital.

“My goal in the meantime is to become an American citizen in the future because this country has given me so much hope,” she added, saying her activism efforts had caught the attention of Elon Musk.

“I posted a message during the European elections in June 2024, in which I said: my name is Naomi Seibt, I vote for the AfD and this was the very first time that Elon interacted with me. Elon sent me a private message on x about the AfD.”

The move comes amid a policy shift under President Donald Trump’s refugee and asylum agenda to prioritize candidates facing persecution for their political speech and opposition to government censorship.

Under the mandate, some Europeans who say they are at risk of expressing dissenting opinions, including on grounds of freedom of expression, could be eligible for expedited review.

Seibt’s record positions her as one of the first to invoke this framework. She says she fears arrest or worse if she returns to Germany, where she says she has been monitored, threatened and left unprotected by state authorities “for years.”

“In 2024, I discovered that I had been spied on by German intelligence for years. At the same time, I continue to receive death threats from Antifa,” she said.

“I went to the German police and they told me they couldn’t do anything until I was raped or killed.

“I do not benefit from the protection of the German government even though I am at major risk of being killed.”

Seibt began to position herself as a martyr for free speech.

“It is illegal to damage the reputation of a politician in Germany. This law was extended under Article 188 by Angela Merkel and now people are being arrested. And their houses are being searched just because of their posts on social media. As soon as I return to Germany, I feel like they will try to arrest me.”

Her activism first gained attention when she challenged orthodoxy on climate change and mass migration policies, and she was labeled “Anti-Greta” as a foil to Greta Thunberg.

“I started to be known and recognized internationally as the anti-Greta Thunberg in 2020,” she added.

“I was barely 19 years old and I never expected to be recognized as a right-wing figure. The German media called me anti-Greta, they demonized me as anti-Greta, as antichrist for Greta Thunberg.

“My name is Naomi Seibt and I want to be recognized for who I am because I’m not just a right-wing puppet.”

Seibt cites close ties to Tesla’s billionaire founder Musk and says he is aware of the danger in Europe and offers support.

“Over the last year, Elon Musk has obviously retweeted me a lot and I’ve interacted with him personally in private messages about what’s going on in Germany,” she explained.

“Elon was terrified of going to Europe and knows there is an extremely high threat and he confirmed that to me personally. That’s when I made the decision to seek asylum myself. He gave me his consent.”
