President Donald Trump is targeting a new version of Air Force One while delays and cost -effects continue to seduce Boeing replacements long -awaited for presidential planes.

The most recent data of 2020 indicate that at least 20 aircraft are the executive fleet. A newly built plane has not been added for almost 27 years. Some of those currently in service should remain stolen for another 13 years.

“They don’t build the plane quickly enough. I mean, they are actually in default,” said Trump about Boeing in a February interview with Sean Hannity.

Air Force One is used to designate any Air Force plane transporting the commander -in -chief. There are currently two highly personalized Boeing planes that were deployed in 1990 when George HW Bush was president. The planes have since transported the presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Trump, Joe Biden and now Trump once again.

“I miss Air Force One,” said Bush at an event for veterans in 2014. “In eight years, they have never lost my luggage.”

The two upcoming Boeing planes were prey to delays due to the complex technology necessary on board the Air Force One.

“They must debug it, make sure that there is no risk of signal intelligence. And I just think to secure it against all potential military attacks. It was ironic for a long time. It was one of the prince’s planes, which I think they were trying to sell. And now they gave it to the United States, and it cost a little to update,” said the staff of the free press Jay Salomon, and said “Said the living room Free Press Salomon.

The Qatari jet should have a faster calendar than the two Boeing plans, but it still needs one of the same technologies to make it Air Force One.

“If you look at it just through the economy, it may make sense, but I always think that the fact that we allow a foreign country to offer something of this magnitude to a seated president in addition to all these other concerns,” said Soloman. “I think it’s a risk, and it’s not a good look.”

Air Force One must have four engines, unlike most of today’s passenger planes that have two. On board is the highest level of classified communications and external protections against foreign surveillance. The planes are equipped with air-to-air supply capacities so that they can fly as long as necessary. Air Force One is built for the worst possible scenarios, such as nuclear war, so that the president can always command military forces from heaven.

“They are extremely complex, and I’m not going to enter it, but they are not like a normal plane. You know, it’s not like building a normal 747,” said Trump during his trip to the Middle East on “a special report” in May.

Trump accepts that jet of Qatar, will be revealed to serve as a Air Force One, says Dod

Air Force managers say that it is possible to add some of the security features to the Qatari jet, but it is unlikely that it has the full suite of technology according to Trump’s February calendar.

“At the start, it was supposed to be like, maybe he will do it at the end of his presidency,” said Salomon.

Four Boeing 757 or C-32A modified are the new planes of the executive fleet. These were added in 1998 and 1999. The Air Force studied potential replacement options, but current planes will continue to fly until 2038. The plane is mainly used by the vice-president, the members of the cabinet, the members of the Congress and other officials.

“Even today and whatever the plane, we must make it work differently depending on the threat environment in which even the current or one of the future planes will enter.

Air Force One is not the only aging plan; A large part of the executive fleet has more than two decades. The plane has undergone modifications to modernization, but those responsible have questioned the major updates calendar, because several incidents have taken place over the years.

In 2014, Obama was forced to change aircraft during a campaign event in Philadelphia after a minor mechanical problem was reported on Air Force One.

In 2021, the vice-president Kamala Harris plane asked for an emergency at the Andrews common base when she started her first trip abroad abroad to Guatemala and Mexico.

More recently, the plane of Secretary of State Marco Rubio was forced to turn around while he was on his way to Munich in February, after a mechanical problem.

The most recent plane among the executive fleet is the Marine One helicopters. Biden went up for the first time in the newly designed navy in 2024 during the National Democratic Convention. The update of these has taken nearly two decades and, in some cases, replaced the flying helicopters since the 1970s.

The Boeing 777X should be the next new major commercial plane. He should enter into service in 2026 after almost six years, Lufthansa taking the first flight. The modernized plane is designed to have a folding winger, a tactile screen bridge and a wider cabin space.
