A surveillance group wonders if West Point has removed its Bible crest

First on Fox: A conservative judicial and government surveillance group has brought legal action by the Freedom of Information Act (FoIA) against the Ministry of Defense concerning documents related to a controversy surrounding the American military academy at West Point Crest on the Bibles in the Chapel of the Cadets of West Point.

Judicial Watch initially submitted a foia request in December 2024 for documents related to the Bibles, after the MacArthur Society, a group of West Point graduates concerned about potential politicization at the Military Academy, invoked them to the potential deletion of the Bible crest.

The initial request for documents said: “On information and belief, the West Point crest appeared on the coverage of the Bibles in the West Point chapel since 1984, but around December 2024, the crest was removed from the Bibles.”

We do not know why the ridge has been deleted, which prompted judicial surveillance to file the original request of the Foia to learn more about the decision, in the midst of the concerns that the Military Academy seeks to eliminate any affiliation with what the group calls “traditional values”.

Mixing religious material with military accessories has been examined in the past. For example, the four branches of the army drawn approval in 2012 for a military series of standard Christian Bibles from Holman who were sold in military exchanges, due to the concerns that the series reported that the Bible was the official religious text of the military services, according to the Military Religious Freedom Foundation.

The West Point Crest has undergone several variations, but historically presented an eagle above the school mascot, the Black Knights.

A West Point spokesperson told Fox News Digital that the chapel bibles now had the name of the military academy.

“The Bibles bought for the Chapel of West Point Cadets are wooded,” the United States Miliary Academy, West Point, New York “, the spokesman said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

The Ministry of Defense told Fox News Digital that he is not commenting on current disputes.

Despite this, Judicial Watch Tuesday filed a complaint for documents concerning the Bibles after receiving any response for the requested files.

“It appears that the Biden administration and its left accomplices have been determined to break all the links between the West Point values and traditional values,” said the president of the judicial watch Tom Fitton in a press release at Fox News Digital. “They added DEI division programs to the study program and eliminated” Duty, Honor, Country “from the Military Academy Mission statement. Now, we learn that they have deleted the West Point of the Bibles in the West Point chapel. It is a wonder that they did not delete the Bibles.”

This is not the first time that West Point has been the subject of a meticulous examination of the conservative guard dog.

In May, Judicial Watch said that West Point embarked on a “concealment” program when he changed his mission statement in 2024 “Duty, Honor, Country” in “Army Value”. According to the surveillance group, the change was part of an effort to advance a program of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI).

Despite this, West Point’s mission statement has been changed nine times during the last century, and the words “duty, honor, country” only entered the West Point mission statement in 1998.

Asked about the change in the mission statement in May, an army spokesperson directed Fox News Digital to the original West Point announcement, Lieutenant-General Steven Gilland: “Our absolute objective on the leaders in the development of characters ready to direct the soldiers of our army on the increasingly fatal battlefields remains unchanged.”

West Point is one of the many American military academies that form students to become military officers.
