Norton said that she would seek a re-election, but a spokesperson has stored her remark

Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton, an octogenarian democrat who represents Washington, DC, in the House but cannot vote to adopt legislation, said that she would ask for a re -election – but her office then gave her comment.

Sahil Kapur of NBC News noted in a Wednesday job On X, Norton said: “Yeah, I’m going to run for a re -election.”

But Axios reported that later, Norton spokesperson Sharon Nichols said at the point of sale: “No decision has been made. She wants to run but still discuss it with people closest to her.”

The same kind of backpedaling also occurred earlier this month: Kapur noted in a June 10 job On X, Norton said she would run.

But then his office brought back the comment of Norton, according to Axios, who reported That Nichols noted that Norton “wanted to run again, but she is in conversations with her family, friends and closest advisers to decide what is best.”

THE New York Times reported that in a statement after saying that she would present herself, Norton seemed to go back, noting that “thanks to thoughtful discussions with my friends, my family and the closest advisers, I still consider my options for the next electoral cycle”.

Fox News Digital contacted Norton’s office Thursday morning.

Norton, who has just been 88 years old this month, is the DC delegate at home since 1991.

“The DC delegate in the House of Representatives of the United States (currently Eleanor Holmes Norton) can sit and vote in the committees, can introduce legislation, can participate in legislative debates, but it cannot vote on the bills examined by the full chamber”, according to Statehood.dc.gov.
