Spanish PM Sanchez to present himself to re -election in 2027 despite the corruption probes

The Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced on Wednesday that he planned to present himself to the re -election at the end of his mandate in 2027, despite the corruption scandals, there was his Socialist Party.

“I am determined to present the next general elections in 2027,” Sanchez told journalists on Wednesday.

In the last in a series of scandals, Sanchez is currently the subject of an investigation for an alleged transplant during his group of Spanish socialist workers (PSOE). While Sanchez – who has been Prime Minister since 2018 – has not been directly involved, the country’s opposition called him to resign, according to BBC News.

Earlier this month, Sanchez apologized after the publication of the audio, which apparently shown that the secretary of the PSOE, Santos Cerdan, discussing the allocation of bad public contracts in exchange for commissions, BBC News reported.

Shortly after the news was announced, Cerdan resigned from the PSOE and resigned as a deputy. Friday, police entered the party’s headquarters to copy Cerdan emails, according to Reuters.

On June 12, the Spanish Prime Minister said he would not call for new elections before the end of his current mandate.

Cerdan, who should appear before the Supreme Court on June 25, says that he has never committed a crime or that he was implicit in one, Reuters reported.

Sanchez is one of the oldest socialist leaders in Europe. His wife, Begona Gomez, is the subject of an investigation for possible commercial irregularities. His brother, David Sanchez, is expected to be tried for an alleged influence, according to BBC News.
