Gillen is a Democrat of Long Island who renounced the former representative Anthony of Esposito, Rn.y., during the 2024 elections.

She and Suozzi were both known to break up with their own party on issues such as the police and illegal immigration during her short delay in Congress so far.

They also detach themselves from the Democratic leaders in his criticism of Mamdani, a 33-year-old self-proclaimed democratic socialist whose platform includes grocery stores belonging to the city and exploited.

The minority head of the Hakeem Jeffries room, Dn.y., and the head of the Senate minority, Chuck Schumer, Dn.y., said on Wednesday in public statements they had spoken to Mamdani since his victory.

“He led an impressive campaign that linked New Yorkers to affordability, fairness and opportunity,” said Schumer.

Jeffries’ declaration said: “The Mamdani Assembly has led a solid campaign that focused tirelessly on the economy and has lowered the high cost of living in New York.”
