The United States on Iranian nuclear installations made ideal results on Saturday to approach the crisis between Iran and Israel, according to the coordinator of the National Security Council of former President Joe Biden for the Middle East and North Africa.
“In the end, this is the best place possible,” said Brett McGurk in a CNN interview on Monday evening. “I give extremely high notes to this national security team and President Trump to manage this crisis and arrive where we are.”
In addition, McGurk said that the Trump administration was able to pursue a ceasefire between Israel and Gaza in the midst of attempts during months to get one.
“There is a chance of diplomacy here,” said McGurk. “Not only on the side of Iran, but also in Gaza. These discussions also take place on the rear channel in Cairo; there is a delegation from Hamas there. Try to put this ceasefire in place. And you can get out of it in a much better place that we would have planned it 10 nights.”

Brett McGurk, then the American envoy of the global coalition against ISIL, speaks for a press conference at the American Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq, in 2017.
While McGurk recently served in the Biden administration, he is one of the Republican and Democrats. Previously, he was one of the former presidents George W. Bush and the National Security Councils of Barack Obama.
He was also the special presidential envoy of the global coalition to counter the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil) during the Obama administration and the first mandate of President Donald Trump. However, he resigned from this position in 2018 following Trump’s decision to withdraw American troops from Syria, as well as the defense secretary at the time, Jim Mattis, for the same reason.
The former Clinton official applauded Trump’s “courageous” Iranian call, doubts that Harris would have had the nerve
In addition to McGurk, other officials who served in democratic administrations have also weighed to support Trump treatment of the Iranian conflict, notably Jamie Metzl, who previously was director of former President Bill Clinton for multilateral cases to the National Security Council.
Metzl said that he criticized Trump and voted for former vice-president Kamala Harris in the 2024 elections, he did not think that Harris could have made the strikes against Iranian targets like Trump.
“Iran has been at war with the United States for 46 years,” Metzl said in an article on X on Sunday. “His regime murdered thousands of American citizens. His slogan” Death To America “was not a dressing of windows but a central ideology. He was heading for a nuclear weapon with the intention of using it to threaten America, our allies and the Middle East region as a whole.”

“Although I believe that the election of Kamala Harris would have been better for our democracy, our society and our economy, as well as to help the most vulnerable people in the United States and in the world, I also believe that Vice-President Harris would not have had the courage or the courage to take a step as essential as the president took it last night,” said Metzl.
The United States has launched strikes on Saturday evening targeting the main Iranian nuclear installations: Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan. The mission involved more than 125 American planes, including B-2 stealth bombers, according to the president of the chiefs of joint staff, General Dan Caine.
While Trump said early Tuesday that a cease-fire had come into force between Israel and Iran, Trump published difficult words for the two countries later Tuesday morning, accusations on both sides that the other had violated the agreement.

Trump told journalists that Israel and Iran had not followed the terms of the agreement, which, according to him, is still in force.
“I’m not satisfied with them,” Trump said in the White House on Tuesday morning. “I am not satisfied with Iran either, but I am really unhappy with Israel that is released this morning.”
“We have essentially two countries that have been fighting for so long and so hard that they don’t know what they are doing,” he said.
