A new survey shows more American people to oppose than to support American air strikes on Iran

However, the Reuters / Ipsos investigation underlines a large partisan gap, most Republicans supporting President Donald Trump’s decision to launch air attacks against Iran in order to prevent the Islamic State from acquiring nuclear weapons.
Thirty-six percent of adult Americans interviewed said that they had supported the air strikes, with 45% opposite and 18% uncertain or sautéed by answering the question.

However, among the Republicans, support for military strikes was 69%, with 17% opposite. Only 13% of Democrats supported the attack, with almost three opposite quarters. Among the self -employed, the support was 29%, with almost half opposite.
The investigation was carried out on Sunday and Monday following the attacks, which the president announced on Saturday evening to the nation. Air strikes occurred after more than a week of daily exchanges between Iran and Israel, triggered by a first Israeli attack on Iranian territory.

Just over a third of those questioned (35%) said they approved how Trump manages Iran, half having disapprove. There was an expected partisan fracture, with 70% of the Republicans, but only 10% of the Democrats and 28% of the self -employed giving the President a boost on his manipulation of Iran.

Trump announced following attacks that “the strikes were a spectacular military success. The main nuclear enrichment facilities in Iran were completely and completely erased”.

However, some independent experts say that the commercial satellite imagery of Iranian facilities after this attack suggests that the Tehran nuclear program is far from destroyed.
The survey also said that six out of 10 believe that US air strikes on Iran will not make America safer, with 36% saying that they will make the nation safer. As with previous questions, there is a large partisan gap, with only 12% of Democrats, 29% of the self -employed and two -thirds of the Republicans saying that the strikes will make America safer.

The survey also indicates that four out of five fear that Iran can target American civilians in response to air strikes.
