This year, there may be an increase in spotted lanterns after the population previously experienced a significant drop, the experts warn.
These predictions are based on an increase in mass accounts to eggs in a vineyard in the county of Berks, Pennsylvania, as declared to Fox News Digital Ben Hottel, an Entomologist from Orkin in Atlanta.
“Although it is not clear if this increase will mean a real increase in populations, experts ask people to be vigilant as activity increases this season,” he said.
The second largest swarm in America is about to emerge on the east coast
“People can start to see more lanterns activity in the coming weeks while time continues to warm up,” added Hobtel.
An article from the New York Post called them “fiscalized by sex” and said that Lanternflies was “back in force”.

Although the Lanternflies have a serious risk for plants and cultures, they are not a danger for humans or animals, according to experts. The insect did not bite, did not bit, did not transmit the disease.
The National Park Service warns, however, that these invasive insects could constitute a threat to agricultural production.
Invasive insect represents the threat of health in 19 states, warns the expert
“Once established in an area (the spotted lantern) has the potential to considerably affect forest ecosystems, agricultural production And cultural resources, ”says his website.
Although the will prefers to feed on the exotic tree of the sky – which is also invasive, which means that it spreads quickly and harms local ecosystems, according to Hottel – it is a “blind pest” which feeds on more than 70 different plant species.

They also excrete a substance which causes the harmful growth of molds on plantsnoted the expert.
Pests services like Orkin recommend that owners withdraw young people from Sowing Tree of Heaven to prevent the spotted lantern to invad their property.

Northeast states contain the most established populations, although Lantern flowers are starting to spread in other American regions such as Midwest and Southeast.
“Spotted lanternflies tend to increase populations when they invade new areas, and the population tends to decrease after a few years,” Hobtel told Fox News Digital.

Because the insect lays its eggs on hard surfaces such as vehicles, firewood, bricks, stones and other items often moved outside, humans can easily and without knowing the transport of pest.
“This means that Lanternflies can spread more broadly to new territories and cause more damage,” warned Hottel.

“Although it may not seem significant, a large-scale death of the Natural North American flora and fauna would have an impact on our local ecosystems significantly.”
