The story of Trump’s 14 years opposing Iranian nuclear weapons against the media, it allowed them
In October 2023, a few days after Hamas’ brutal massacre in Israel, Trump told a crowd during a campaign rally that Iran could not be authorized to develop nuclear weapons.
“Do not let Iran have nuclear weapons. This is my only thing that I must tell you today. Do not let them have it,” said Trump in the rally on October 16, 2023.
Then in January 2024, Trump said, “I just don’t want them to have a nuclear weapon, and they wouldn’t.”
A few months later, in June 2024, during an appearance on the “All-in” podcast, Trump told the hosts that Iran could not be authorized to develop a nuclear weapon.
“The main thing is that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. It was my principal.

Vice-president JD Vance also commented the controversy concerning Trump’s position on Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Vance defended the position of Iran of his boss as being concentrated solely on “the use of the American army to achieve the objectives of the American people”.
He also described Trump as someone who “was incredibly consistent, over 10 years, that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon”.
“I have not yet seen a single good argument to explain why Iran needed to enrich uranium well above the threshold for civil use. I have not yet seen a single good argument to explain why Iran was justified to violate its non-proliferation obligations. I have not yet seen a single good step back against the conclusions of the AIEA”, wrote Vance on X.

In 2018, during his first mandate, Trump retired of the Iranian nuclear agreement of the Obama era, known as the Complete Complete Action Plan (JCPOA). At the time, Trump called the JCPOA “one of the worst unilateral transactions that the United States has ever concluded”.
The release of the White House on the American withdrawal of the agreement has several references to the opposition of Trump to Iran which developed a nuclear weapon. At one point, he said that “Trump has committed to ensuring that Iran has no possible path to a nuclear weapon”.
