“Voluntary photos” of the photographer Alexis Vasilikos

A group of accidental exposure to the artist and photographer Alexis Vaslecos (Previously appeared here). Vasilikos is greatly affected in Athens, is deeply affected by oriental mysticism and is attracted to contemplative dimensions and transgressing images. His series has appeared, “Uncomfortable Pictures”, over the past five years and includes “a different vision method.” That is, the results of unintended taps and rubber gestures on their portable devices. Or, perhaps, the independent “dream” of the device:

“Without framing or traditional theme, the resulting images constitute soft ablution, texture and movement, more colorful field panels are similar to traditional documentary images. They are present in a limited area between conscious creation and mechanical monitoring – photography without a photographer, without a deliberate intention.”

Speaking to broader talks on technology, art and authorship, the series explores the agency’s issues and perceptions in an era that is increasingly formed by automation and chance. Vasilikos depends on the Taoist principle of Wu Wei – Work without effort – on the aesthetic of accidents and the role of the artist as a participant and a witness.
