Caio Marcolini weaves a sensitive metal network in inclined cellular statues – enormous

Caio MarcoliniThe magic of organic systems began simply enough. The “corridor left by the sea on the sand, and the interlocking roots of trees inside the forest, (and) the flowers that fall from the trees” found witch. But then, when his first child was born in 2021, an investigation began with how these winding patterns, rings, began inside the body.

What resulted in is a series of woven rooted statues with thin slices of copper, copper and iron wires. The hollow tubes emerge from shapes similar to the thin bell guaranteed on the wall, while the long drops sometimes decrease from the upper area and hang in the air.

Marcolini, which has been trained as Goldsmith, is the techniques of making jewelry and the principles of industrial design in a fully hand -working process. Using a hammer, columns, and various manual tools, the Brazilian artist creates a completely uniform network that then forms into round shapes. “I rarely draw – just small drawings – and most time, I imagine a form using primary parameters,” he says. “The structures are made in an exploratory manner, fluid and organic, where the structure and experience are weaved on the studio wall. I can say it is a very intuitive process.”

As the artist sees it, these individual metal pieces associated with single cells or DNA that are repeatedly repeated, leading to the development of new forms. While the statues are distinct in shape, the statues are still flexible, transparent and abstract. Works are similar to circular systems in the human body, as well as creatures in forests and oceans, and occupy a kind of mysterious and hybrid space.

Marcolini is nicknamed his collections such as Colony, System, captured, and dualism. In reference to the relationship between individual components and the largest, every group of work becomes a kind of living organisms that seem to take their own life. Instead of imposing a specific interpretation, the artist leaves the exact form of open works, as if it might turn into a new life at any moment.
