JUXTAPOZ – FINE DINE The Demons: The Nautical Adventures of Martin Machado

Elianor Harwood exhibition I am happy to advertise Martin MachadoA second single view with the exhibition: Good dinner, demons. The offer will be shown until June 21, 2025.

This exhibition consists of paintings that have been conducted over the past year. In this group of business, Machado continues to develop many continuous series related to the natural world courses and its experience in working on water as a commercial hunter and Marshant Mariner. The ship will play the largest role in the show, as the scenes carry the time and place of the other pieces; From the phase of the moon’s completion for a month to a long coastal line.

Repeating in these works clarifies the magic of artists over time, the clarity of memory, as well as the blessing and curse that the Labor Party plays in our lives. As shown in his previous exhibition, most of the “Wake Series” works are drawn with oil, whether on linen or on the maritime plans collected from the international paragraphs that Machado is working as Mariner Mariner. However, many of these modern paintings have a color palette that has turned closer to night shades. Sometimes the prominent points on the water in Bennis can be mute that can reflect a sky full of smoke, while in others, a golden color like sunlight fragments that penetrate the storm.

The mood of these works is also reflected in the title of the show, Fine Dine the Chemons borrowed from the lyrics of the song “Adrienne Lenker” entitled “Once a Disbron”. In the choir, Linker sings, “Half Margareta, you have a little dance, let’s eat demons and give peace a chance.” With equal parts that converge the humor and cardiac optimism, Matshado searches for a ray of light in despair from our collective awareness.

In both the hanged exhibition and its practice, Martin alternates between Plein airboards and studio -based works. While Covid insurance, outdoor drawing began at night to pick up the moon every month and continued this practice. These lunar boards are usually created along the different waterfront in San Francisco, pre -planned to try to capture the moon or place it over the water. The weather always brings unique challenges, and of course, the darkness itself has a role in business. “In some respects, the eye gang is like drawing, it can be brought by the surprise plate in the dark, and I try to carry these discoveries in my studio -based work,” says Matudo.

In addition to the large group of oil panels, there is a set of smaller works on paper. Again, the h in the axis of this group, and this time it was translated with blue ink. In two works, the artist returns to a previous series in Oeuvre, where he refers to the digging of European colonial campaigns and replaces their boats with contemporary floating shipping containers. Acts are sensitive and opening, dangerous and humor.
