JUXTAPOZ Magazine – Radio Juxtapoz, EP 162: Adele Renault wants her paintings to be tightly closed

Adele RenaultOld Korean Church Studios converted in Los Angeles. Here, the Belgian artist born away from the countryside in which she grew up, and now in the intensity of the concrete ground block, which is the extension of Los Angeles. Here, in these circumstances, you make very accurate and realistic paintings, tightly closed, so that they tend almost into an abstract thing. It is amazing and a major moment for the artist as she was appointed to open her individual show, Things I can’t tightIn gMother Gallery.
It is the ideal title for the offer, in particular, for the practice that it has to document its trips via bike, running, or in a car via Los Angeles. The works were made for 12 months, during a loud period in the history of Los Angeles, a poem for the city and the ongoing conversation between nature and cement.
In this conversation on JUXTAPOZ Radio PodcastThe Renault, which is presented by Unibrow, talks to Evan Brico about her growth from writing on walls and street work in this new direction, from pigeons to urban landscapes now, and how the time is provided by each artist, and how near these works.
