AOC Speaks Out on Trump-Mamdani Meeting

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., said New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani is willing to meet with anyone before his meeting with the president. Donald Trump.
Asked Thursday by a journalist about her expectations regarding the meeting, the MP replied: “We will see.”
“Obviously, the elected mayor will prepare for his inauguration,” she said. “Of course, he’s indicated he’s willing to sit down with anyone and everyone. So we’ll see.”

Ocasio-Cortez was also asked if there were any policy issues the mayor-elect should address during her meeting with Trump.
“I think we let Zohran lead. He was elected to lead New York City. I trust him as the elected mayor, he will do what he thinks is best for New York City,” she said.
“We’ll see how it goes,” she added.

Trump announced Wednesday that he would meet with Mamdani at the White House this week.
“The Communist Mayor of New York, Zohran ‘Kwame’ Mamdani, has requested a meeting. We have agreed that this meeting will take place in the Oval Office on Friday, November 21,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Further details will follow,” the president said.

The meeting would mark the first meeting between Trump and Mamdani since the democratic socialist’s New York mayoral victory earlier this month.
Mamdani, a Queens state lawmaker, is expected to take office in January.
