Czech Carrillo – A long-time actor with roles in major films has died… according to his wife and their children.
Carrillo died on Friday after a struggle with cancer, his family reported to Agence France-Presse.
The actor, who was born in Turkey in 1953, began his career later… He took on his first well-known film roles in his early 30s, including a role in the crime thriller “La Balance,” which earned him a César Award nomination for Most Promising Actor in 1982.
Over the next five decades, Carrillo appeared in many famous French films — such as “La Femme Nikita” and “The Bear” — as well as films beloved by American audiences.
Spy fans may recognize Carrillo as Dmitry Myshkin – Russia’s Defense Minister – in the James Bond film GoldenEye.
A few years later, Carrillo played Major Jean Villeneuve in the film The Patriot Mel Gibson and Heath Ledger. Carrillo’s other credits include the films “Take Lives,” “The Way,” “Wing Commander” and the hit TV show “Baptiste.”
Carrillo is survived by his actress wife by more than two decades Valerie Kirozuri -And their two children.
He was 72 years old.
